AggiesCapture Cabrini College Tip-Off Tournament; Golden Named MVP

RADNOR (PA) -- Junior Bridget Golden recorded game-highs of 19 points, 16 rebounds and four blocks to earn Most Valuable Player honors as the Delaware Valley College women's basketball team captured the Cabrini College Tip-Off Tournament with a 58-55 victory over Cabrini.

Golden notched 43 points and 30 rebounds over the two days to lead the Aggies (2-0). Kate McCarthy joined Golden on the all-tournament team as the sophomore guard had 35 points, 13 rebounds and 12 assists in the two games

The Aggies (2-0) were ahead by one late in the championship game when McCarthy was fouled with 30 seconds left. She sank both free throws for a 56-53 lead. Cabrini pulled back to within one and McCarthy was fouled again with 17 seconds to go. She again hit both shots and the Aggie survived at the end as a Cabrini wide-open 3-point attempt at the buzzer did not fall.

Both teams struggled from the field as Delaware Valley shot just 27.4 percent while the Lady Cavaliers shot 26.6 percent. The teams also combined for 37 turnovers.

Golden went 7-for-14 from the field and 5-for-8 from the foul line. McCarthy finished Saturday with 13 points and four assists. Junior Jackie Hartzell added 15 points and a career best 12 rebounds in the win.

Erin Shemar paced Cabrini with 14 points.
