Juniata College 84, Delaware Valley 76
Smolinsky Reaches 1,000-Point Milestone

HUNTINGDON (PA) -- Senior guard Amber Smolinsky scored 10 points and reached the 1,000-point milestone for her career, but it wasn't enough as Delaware Valley College dropped an 84-76 decision to host Juniata College in a non-conference game.

Smolinsky became just the seventh player in Aggie women's basketball history to reach the coveted milestone. Needing just four points entering the game, Smolinsky got on the board three minutes in with a layup. With 12:31 left in the half and Delaware Valley down 20-14, Smolinsky was fouled in the act of shooting. She calmly hit both free throws for points No. 999 and 1,000.

Smolinsky finished just 2-for-8 from the field and a perfect 6-for-6 at the foul line. She also added six assists and three rebounds in 39 minutes of play.

However, the Eagles (2-2) spoiled Smolinsky's day as they shot 64 percent from the field (16-for-25) in the second half to overcoming a 43-39 halftime deficit. Jen LaCount led the way by scoring 24 points on 8-for-12 shooting, including a 5-for-6 performance from 3-point land.

Sophomore forward/center Bridget Golden had a big day for Delaware Valley (1-2) as she scored a career-high 22 points and also grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds. Sarah Tuffner finished with 10 points and six rebounds and freshman Kate McCarthy added 10 points.
