Gwynedd-Mercy College 59, Delaware Valley 53

DOYLESTOWN (PA) - The Gwynedd-Mercy College women's basketball led from start to finish as the Griffins downed host Delaware Valley College, 59-53, in a non-conference game.

Gwynedd-Mercy (14-7) jumped out to a quick 10-2 lead five minutes into the game. The Aggies (8-13) pulled to within three, 17-14, with 6:20 left in the half, but the Griffins scored 11 of the next 12 points to take a commanding 28-15 lead.

Down seven at halftime, Delaware Valley fought back and made it as four-point game, 39-35 as freshman Juli McGowan hit a 3-pointer with 8:31 to go. However, Gwynedd-Mercy went on a 13-6 run and never looked back.

Senior guard Amber Smolinsky paced the Aggies with 12 points, six assists and five steals. Junior forward Shannon McCormick chipped in with 11 points and eight rebounds while junior center Sarah Tuffner led all players with 14 rebounds.

Alexis Boyle and Candice Ober had 12 points apiece to lead the Griffins. Colleen Carr added nine points and Kathy Snell finished with seven points, seven rebounds and seven assists.
