Wilkes University 100, Delaware Valley College 67

WILKES-BARRE (PA) -University shot a sizzling 60.7 percent from the field and 55.6 percent from three-point range in scoring a 100-67 Freedom Conference men's basketball win over visiting Delaware Valley College.

The Colonels won for the sixth time in their last seven games to improve to 12-8 overall and 6-2 in the conference. The Aggies saw their records fall to 2-19 overall and 0-9 in conference action.

The game was decided in the opening 20 minutes when Wilkes connected on 64.3 percent (18-of-28) of their field goal attempts, including 57.1 percent (8-14) from behind the three-point arc, to take a commanding 53-26 lead at the break.

Delaware Valley never led in the tilt, but did have the Wilkes advantage down to three points, 14-11, following a three-pointer by Jason Seipt with 14:15 to play in the opening stanza. Wilkes responded with seven straight tallies to take a 21-11 lead.

With the lead still at 10 points, 25-15, the Colonels embarked on a 15-4 run that pushed the edge to 34-17. Jason Goldheimer scored on a drive to pull the Aggies within 34-19 at the 7:28 mark, but a 6-0 Colonel run upped the lead to 21 and Delaware Valley never got closer than 19 points the rest of the way.

Steve Kline, who was 9-of-11 from the field, had a career-high 26 points to go along with eight rebounds and four assists for Wilkes. Kresge shot 8-of-9 from the field and chipped in with 20 points and six rebounds. Chris DeRojas added 17 points and three assists, while Matt Gould contributed 10 tallies.

Seipt and Zack Van Dyke finished with 13 points apiece for Delaware Valley. Goldheimer had 12 tallies, while both Ryan Thomas and Raheem Wiggins ended the day with 10 points.
