Delaware Valley College 87, Lancaster
Bible College 77
DOYLESTOWN (PA) - The backcourt tandem of Jason Goldheimer and
Jason Seipt combined for 42 points and 16 assists as Delaware Valley
College pulled away to an 87-77, non-conference victory over visiting
Lancaster Bible College.
The win snapped a four-game losing streak for the Aggies as they
improved to 3-20 on the season. The Chargers fell to 3-19.
Goldheimer and Seipt hit key baskets late in the second half after
Lancaster Bible tied the game at 63-63 with 6:50 remaining. Seipt
took a feed from Goldheimer and drained a 3-pointer to regain the
lead. The Chargers quickly made it a one-point contest on a Billy
Harrison jumper, but this time Seipt fed Goldheimer for a trey.
Goldheimer then stole the inbounds pass and laid it in for a 71-65
advantage with 5:40 remaining.
One minutes later, Harrison nailed a 3-pointer to pull Lancaster
Bible back to within three. However, Goldheimer hit another trey
- off a Seipt assist - to ignite an 8-0 run and a 79-68 lead with
2:59 remaining. The Chargers never got closer than eight points
the rest of the way.
The first half saw Delaware Valley lead for nearly for the entire
stanza and take a 39-34 lead into the intermission. The Aggies led
by as many as nine in the early moments of the second half, but
Lancaster Bible battled back and took its only lead of the game
at 59-58 after Harrison hit from downtown with 8:04 to go. The game
was then tied at 63-63 before Goldheimer and Seipt's heroics put
the contest away.
Seipt finished with 22 points and 11 assists. The junior now has
144 helpers on the year and is 13 shy of breaking the school single-season
record of 156 set by Eric Ford back in the 1984-85 campaign. Goldheimer
drained five treys and finished the afternoon with 20 points and
five assists. Center Matt Beichey notched a double-double with 11
points and 10 rebounds.
Harrison hit six from beyond the arc and finished with 26 points
to pace Lancaster Bible. He also added five assists and five steals.
Ryan Carpenter and Eric Nulf added 14 and 12 points respectively
in the loss.
