WILKES-BARRE (PA) - The Delaware Valley College men's basketball
team ended the 2007-08 season with a 102-54 loss to host King's
College in a Freedom Conference game.
The Aggies finished 3-22 overall and 0-12 in conference competition.
The Monarchs upped their mark to 17-8 overall, 9-3 and tied for
first with DeSales University and Manhattanville College in the
Freedom. DeSales gets the top nod in the upcoming playoffs with
King's as the second seed and hosting Manhattanville.
The Monarchs took the lead for good five minutes into Saturday's
contest and cruised from there. They held a 43-24 advantage at halftime
and then shot 53.7 percent from the field in the second stanza as
they outscored Delaware Valley, 59-30, in those 20 minutes.
Thirteen different players hit the scoring column for King's led
by John Soboleski's 26 points. Ryan Nenstiel came off the bench
to hit seven treys and finish with 24 points in 19 minutes while
Jamie Cousart added 17 points.
Jason Goldheimer hit four from beyond the arc and finished with
12 points to pace the Aggies. Matt Beichey and Brian Hilinski poured
in 10 points apiece while Jason Seipt dished out six assists and,
in the process, broke the Delaware Valley single-season record for
the category. Seipt's 158 helpers bested the previous mark of 156
set by Eric Ford during the 1984-85 campaign.
