King's College 82, Delaware Valley College 65

DOYLESTOWN (PA) - King's College opened up the second half with an 11-0 run as the Monarchs broke open a tied game and notched an 82-65 victory over host Delaware Valley College in a Freedom Conference game.

King's, the defending conference champions, improved to 8-6 overall and 1-1 in the Freedom while the Aggies fell to 1-12 overall and 0-2 in the league.

The teams were deadlocked 29-29 at halftime as Delaware Valley shot 4.19 percent from the field and held a 22-14 advantage on the boards. However, the Monarchs took command of the game in the early stages of the second half with Jamie Cousart leading the way. The senior guard scored just two points in the 11-0 spurt but he grabbed two rebounds and notched three steals, leading to easy baskets.

Delaware Valley got back to within eight at 44-36, but the Monarchs scored 14 of the next 17 points, including a pair of treys by Jim Welsh, for a 58-39 advantage with 8:49 left on the clock. The Aggies never got closer than 15 points the rest of the way.

John Soboleski scored a game-high 24 points, including 18 in the second half, to pace King's. Cousart finished with 17 points, six rebounds, six assists and six steals while Vince Scalzo and Kofi Dwebeng hit double figures with 11 and 10 points respectively.

Brian Hilinski led Delaware Valley with 14 points and seven rebounds while Raheem Wiggins added 13 points and six boards. Matt Beichey notched 12 points and Jason Seipt chipped in with 10 points and a game-high seven assists.
