DOYLESTOWN (PA) - All five University of Scranton starters reached
double figures in scoring as the Royals downed host Delaware Valley
College, 84-68, in a Freedom Conference game. The Royals improved
to 15-3 overall and 6-1 in conference play while the Aggies fell
to 3-15, 1-6.
Delaware Valley held a 23-21 lead with 7:38 to go in the first
half, before Scranton scored eight consecutive points for a 29-23
advantage. Later in the half, Isaiah Pinckney drained a 3-pointer
to pull the Aggies to within two, 30-28 with 3:38 remaining, but
the Royals ended the half with seven straight, including five by
Paul Hawk, for a nine-point lead at the break.
Down 15 early in the second stanza, Delaware Valley went on a 9-0
run, including seven by Pinckney to get to within six, 46-40, with
15:33 to go. However, Hawk hit a trey and layup on back-to-back
trips and the Royals never looked back.
Ryan FitzPatrick paced Scranton with 22 points while Hawk finished
with 16. Paul Biagoli added 12 points while Randy Arnold and Tom
Bicknell netted 10 apiece. Bicknell also grabbed a game-high 12
rebounds.
Pinckney finished with 22 points and moved into seventh place on
the Aggie all-time list with 1,311 points. Eric Lawton also 22 points
in the loss.
