DOYLESTOWN
(PA) - Mark Franzyshem scored 20 points, including a crucial 3-point
play with 13.7 seconds remaining, to lift Moravian College to a
66-62 victory over host Delaware Valley College in a non-conference
game.
The win was the second straight for the Greyhounds as they reached
the .500 mark with a 4-4 record. The Aggies fell to 2-6 on the year.
Moravian trailed for most of the game, but a Chris Earley free
throw gave the Greyhounds a 46-45 lead with exactly seven minutes
to go. The lead changed hands eight times after that until four
straight points by Moravian gave the squad a 58-53 advantage with
2:12 to go.
The Greyhounds then held a 61-57 lead before Delaware Valley's
Jason Seipt hit a 3-pointer with 43 seconds to go to make it a one-point
lead. Moravian inbounded the ball and ran most of the shot clock
down. Eric Whitman then found Franzyshen who hit the layup while
being fouled with 13.7 seconds to go. Franzyshen converted the free
throw for a 64-60 lead.
An Isaiah Pinckney putback of a Seipt miss with 5.7 seconds remaining
made it a two-point ballgame, but Moravian's Ryan Miller sealed
the contest a second later as he hit a pair of free throws for the
66-62 final.
Delaware Valley led by as many as 10, 18-8, with 10:40 remaining
in the first half and took a 30-22 advantage into the intermission.
However, the Greyhounds rallied and used a big advantage on the
boards as they outrebounded the Aggies, 49-30, including 25 offensive
boards.
In addition to Franzyshen, Chris Earley and Steve Wenderfer notched
13 points apiece with Wenderfer also adding nine rebounds.
Pinckney played all 40 minutes and finished with a game-high 26
points. Seipt added nine points while Zack Van Dyke had eight points
and five rebounds.
