Gwynedd-Mercy College 93, Delaware Valley College 84

DOYLESTOWN (PA) - Chris DelBrocco, Corey Rich and David Smith scored 21 points apiece to lead Gwynedd-Mercy College to a 93-84, non-conference victory over host Delaware Valley College.

The win snapped a four-game losing streak for the Griffins as they improved to 5-6 on the year. The Aggies fell to 3-10 with the loss.

The trio missed just 10 of their 37 field goal attempts and helped Gwynedd-Mercy shoot 62.7 percent (37-for-59) for the game, including a 69-percent effort (20-for-29) in the second half alone.

The Griffins opened the game by hitting six of their first eight shots, including a pair of 3-pointers by DelBrocco, for a 15-3 lead. However, Isaiah Pinckney brought Delaware Valley back as he hit four 3-pointers in a two-minute span to key a 14-4 run and make it a 19-17 contest with 10:35 to go in the half.

The Griffins followed with a 10-2 spurt and eventually took a 44-35 advantage into the intermission.
The second stanza saw Gwynedd-Mercy opened up its largest lead of the game at 19, 62-43, when Haven Wroten converted a three-point play with 15:17 remaining. The Aggies fought back and scored 11 straight points, including six by Zack Van Dyke, to make it 62-54 just three minutes later.

Delaware Valley got within seven, 64-57, as Jason Seipt hit three straight free throws with 8:47 left on the clock. However, they could not get any closer than that and four straight free throws by Gwynedd-Mercy with just under a minute remaining put the game away.

DelBrocco and Smith had team-highs of eight assists and nine rebounds respectively to add to their point totals. Wroten also hit double figures as finished the night with 15 points.

Pinckney, a senior guard, scored a game-high 27 points and, in the process, moved into eighth place on the Aggies' all-time scoring list with 1,230 points. Van Dyke had his second straight double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds while Seipt came off the bench to notch 15 points in 20 minutes of action.
