Drew University 70, Delaware Valley 66
MADISON (NJ) - The Delaware Valley College men's basketball team
nearly rallied from a 21-point, second half deficit but dropped
a 70-66 decision to host Drew University in a Freedom Conference
game.
The Aggies (5-17, 2-9 Freedom) were down 35-23 at halftime, then
trailed by a 49-28 margin in the second half. They then went on
a 25-7 run, capped by Dominique Brown's 3-point play, to trail by
just three, 56-53, with 5:02 to go. Brown had eight points in the
spurt while Isaiah Pinckney added seven.
Drew (9-13, 4-7) bumped the lead back up to seven before a Pinckney
layup and a Ryan Walsh 3-pointer brought Delaware Valley to within
two at 65-53. The Rangers hit three of four foul shots but a Pinckney
trey with five seconds remaining made it a two-point ballgame once
again. The Aggies fouled Chris Lopez with two seconds to go, but
Lopez sealed the game by hitting both free throws.
Pinckney finished with 20 points, seven rebounds and seven assists
to lead Delaware Valley. Walsh chipped in with 15 points and eight
boards while Brown came off the bench to notch 12 points.
Lopez led all players with 26 points, nine rebounds and four steals.
Sam Taub added 16 points and seven boards in the win.
