Vassar College 63, Delaware Valley 56

POUGHKEEPSIE (NY) -- Vassar College shot 54.2 percent from the field in the first half and went on to a 63-56 triumph over visiting Delaware Valley College in a non-conference game.

Vassar (2-3) hit 13 of its 24 shots in the first 20 minutes to jump out to a 34-26 lead. The Aggies outscored the Brewers, 30-29, in the second half but it wasn't enough as they fell to 0-4 on the year.

Sophomore Tim Smink came off the bench to score a team-high 10 points for Delaware Valley. Freshman Mike Thornton had nine points and six rebounds in his first collegiate start while sophomore Kevin Wright added seven points and six boards. Freshman Isaiah Pinckney contributed six points and five assists in the loss.

Matt Williams paced Vassar with 19 points while Jud Winton also reached double figures with 19 points.
