Gettysburg College 64, Delaware Valley 49
Aggies Fall In Opening Round of Gettysburg Tip-Off Tournament

GETTYSBURG (PA) -- The Delaware Valley College men's basketball team opened its 2003-04 season with a 64-49 loss to Gettysburg College in the first round of the Gettysburg Tip-Off Tournament.

The Aggies will now play SUNY-Geneseo, which dropped a 72-55 decision to Muskingum College, in Saturday's consolation game. Tip-off is set for 2:00 p.m.

Delaware Valley never led in the game and trailed by 11, 32-21, at halftime. The Aggies then scored the first seven points of the second half to get to within four, 32-28, with 17:38 remaining.

Four minutes later, Delaware Valley still trailed by four when the Bullets went on a 12-2 run to pull away.

Freshman guard Javon Alston came off the bench to pace the Aggies with 14 points in 22 minutes. Sophomore forward Kevin Wright contributed nine points and three steals while junior guard and team captain Randall Graves added eight points and three steals.

Gettysburg placed four players in double figures, including Kyle Jakobe's game-high 16 points. The Bullets also held a 42-31 advantage on the boards.
