Consolation Game of Gettysburg Tip-Off Tournament

GETTYSBURG (PA) -- SUNY Geneseo scored 24 consecutive points during a second-half stretch as it rallied from a five-point halftime deficit and posted a 66-52 victory over Delaware Valley College in the consolation game of the 13th annual Gettysburg College Tip-Off Tournament.

The Aggies (0-2) jumped out to a 34-29 halftime advantage thanks to 50 percent shooting (13-for-26) from the field, including a 6-for-10 showing from 3-point land. Rich Schmidt and Erik Tegethoff combined for 5-for-5 shooting from beyond the arc and 21 points in the half.

Delaware Valley still had a 47-40 lead with 13:54 remaining after a pair of free throws. However, it was all Geneseo from there as they scored the game's next 24 points to take a 64-47 advantage with 2:48 to go.

Tegethoff finished with 13 points while Schmidt had 11. Javon Alston scored seven points in 15 minutes off the bench and was named to the all-tournament team.

Steve McDonnel paced Geneseo with 13 points and Ben Schwenebraten added 12 in the victory.
