Delaware Valley 73, Drew University 57

- The Delaware Valley College men's basketball team shot a season-best
56.1 percent from the field as the Aggies posted a 73-57 road triumph
over Drew University in a Freedom Conference game.
Delaware Valley snapped an eight-game losing streak with the win
and improved to 4-17 overall and 3-8 in the conference. The Rangers
fell to 5-14, 2-8.
The Aggies hit 32 of their 57 shots in the contest, including an
8-for-13 (61.5%) showing from beyond the arc. They were ever better
in the first half by connecting on 17 of 29 attempts from the field
(58.6%).
Delaware Valley trailed 5-4 in the opening minutes before outscoring
Drew 24-4 to take a 19-point lead with 4:40 remaining before intermission.
Freshmen Isaiah Pinckney and Mike Thornton scored seven points apiece
to lead the spurt.
The Aggies took a 38-20 halftime lead and built the advantage to
as many as 25, 41-26, in the second stanza. Thornton led all scorers
with 24 points while also adding eight rebounds and three blocks.
He hit 10 of 15 shots from the field including a trio of 3-pointers.
Sophomore Sean Smith was a perfect 5-for-5 from the field (3-for-3
from beyond the arc) and finished with 13 points. Freshman Mike
Zupa added 11 points while fellow rookie Javon Alston notched 10
points on 5-for-7 shooting off the bench. Pinckney finished with
eight points in the victory.
Brad Greeman led the Rangers with 23 points.
