SCRANTON (PA) -- The University of Scranton men's basketball team
never trailed in the game as the Royals posted an 84-52 victory
over visiting Delaware Valley College in the Freedom Conference
opener for both teams.
Scranton (3-2, 1-0), which is the preseason favorite to win the
conference, led 14-10 midway through the first half when it exploded
for a 23-4 run to take a 37-14 advantage with 58 seconds remaining.
Dan Loftus scored five points in that spurt.
The Royals built the lead to as many as 36 in the second half as
they shot 60.7 percent from the field in the half and finished the
game 31-for-57 (54.4 percent). Loftus ended with a game-high 14
points while Brian O'Donnell posted a double-double with 10 points
and 13 rebounds.
Sophomore center Josh Wurtz led the Aggies (1-3, 0-1) as he came
off the bench to notch 13 points and six rebounds in 17 minutes.
Randall Graves and Brian Singer had eight points apiece with Graves
also dishing out four assists. |
