Men's Basketball - 2002-03 Season

FDU-Florham 78, Delaware Valley 66

DOYLESTOWN (PA) -- Delaware Valley College's comeback bid in the second half fell short as the Aggies dropped a 78-66 decision to visiting FDU-Florham in a Freedom Conference game.

Delaware Valley (5-18, 0-13 Freedom) trailed by 15 at halftime and then were down by 17 points, 53-36, with 13:47 remaining in the contest. The Aggies then went on a 10-2 run, including four points apiece by Tim Smink and Kevin Wright, to make it a nine-point ballgame with 9:42 to go.

The Devils (11-13, 4-9) responded by scoring six of the next eight points for a 13-point advantage, but back came Delaware Valley with six straight - four by Josh Wurtz, to pull to within seven, 61-54, with 5:48 remaining. However that was as close as the Aggies would come.

Wright, a freshman forward, had a career night for Delaware Valley with 25 points and 15 rebounds including 10 offensive boards. In fact, he scored the team's first 12 points of the evening. Fellow rookie Sean Smith added 11 points and seven rebounds while Wurtz finished with nine points and four boards.
