FDU-Florham 69, Delaware Valley 61

MADISON (NJ) -- FDU-Florham made enough foul shots down the stretch to hold on and defeat Delaware Valley College, 69-61, in a Freedom Conference game.

The game was a see-saw battle. The Aggies (5-12, 0-7) got out to an 11-4 lead before FDU-Florham (7-10, 1-6) went on a 30-5 run that lasted nearly 14 minutes and gave the Devils a 34-16 advantage. Delaware Valley chipped away in the final two minutes of the first half and a 10-1 burst made the halftime score 35-26 in favor of FDU.

The Aggies trailed by as many as 14 in the second half but a 17-7 run midway through the half pulled them to within four with 4:17 left to play. When Josh Wurtz made a layup with 2:45 remaining, the Aggies were fown 62-59, but the Devils clinched the victory by making seven of 10 free throws in the final two minutes.

James Avant paced Delaware Valley with 16 points while Wurtz added 10 points.
