Delaware Valley 74, Centenary College

DOYLESTOWN (PA) -- Freshmen Frank Finney, Brian Singer and Tim
Smink scored 14 points apiece to lead Delaware Valley College to
a 74-72 triumph over visiting Centenary College in a non-conference
game.
The win snapped a three-game losing streak for the Aggies and they
will take a 2-4 record into the holiday break. Delaware Valley will
return to action on Saturday, January 4 when it battles McDaniel
College at the Villa Julie College Tournament.
Finney hit five of nine shots from the field, including a 4-for-6
performance from 3-point land, in 27 minutes of play. Singer, a
6-foot-8 center, hit five of seven shots from the field in 21 minutes
while Smink came off the bench to hit five of six shots from the
field (3-for-3 from 3-point land) and dish out four assists in 26
minutes of action.
Finney and Smink both hit 3-pointers during an 8-3 run that gave
the Aggies their largest lead of the game, 61-51, with 11:02 remaining.
Delaware Valley still led 67-58 with 6:40 to go before the Cyclones
(4-2) rallied with a 12-2 spurt to take a one-point lead, 70-69,
with 2:51 to go. Mike Memmen led the charge for Centenary with five
points.
However, Delaware Valley scored the game's next five points, all
on free throws, to regain the lead at 74-70 with 23 seconds to go.
Kevin Wolf hit three foul shots and Randall Graves hit two during
that span.
The Cyclones made it a two-point game with 11 seconds to go then
stole a lone entry pass a second later. Tyshawn Bailey's 3-point
attempt from the right corner clanked off the rim and the ball went
off an Aggie defender, giving Centenary one last chance with 1.3
seconds remaining. The inbounds pass went to Memmem whose game-winning
attempt from 25 feet away hit the back of the rim and bounced out,
giving Delaware Valley the victory.
Sophomore Josh Wurtz and freshman Kevin Wright also reached double
figures for the Aggies with 12 and 11 points respectively. Graves
finished with team highs of eight assists and five rebounds.
Memmem paced Centenary with 23 points and seven rebounds while Kelvin
Kennedy added 20 points and seven boards. Chris Stewart, the team's
leading scorer with over 20 points a contest, was held to eight
