Delaware Valley College 6, Ursinus College

COLLEGEVILLE (PA) - Mike Isgro's RBI double in the top of the ninth
inning proved to be the difference as Delaware Valley College came
from behind to defeat host Ursinus College, 6-5, in a non-conference
game.
The game was the sixth in the last four days for the Aggies, who
improved to 23-13 overall. They will now prepare for this weekend's
crucial three-game series with Freedom Conference newcomer Arcadia
University (Friday's single game at Arcadia, Saturday's doubleheader
at Delaware Valley) to end the regular season. Delaware Valley is
7-8 and tied with two others for the fourth and final playoff spot
in the conference.
The Aggies trailed 5-3 before tying the game with two runs in the
eighth. Then in the ninth, Zach Jakubowski opened the stanza with
a walk but was thrown out at second on fielder's choice as Kevin
Weingart tried to bunt him over into scoring position. With Weingart
on first, Isgro notched his seventh double of the season, a shot
into the right-center field gap to bring home Weingart for the eventual
game winner. The sophomore outfielder/pitcher went 2-for-5 and knocked
two runs in, giving him 23 on the year (second on the team).
Jakubowski also had a multiple-hit game as he went 2-for-3 to
raise his batting average to .473. The senior third baseman also
became just the fourth player in school history to reach the 60-hit
plateau for a season. Justin Lucas picked up his first win of the
year.
