Delaware Valley College 6, Richard Stockton
College 5
POMONA (NJ) -- Delaware Valley College scored three runs in the
top of the ninth inning for a come-from-behind 6-5 win over host
Richard Stockton College in a non-conference game. The win evened
the Aggies's record to 1-1 while the Ospreys fell to 3-2.
Down 5-3, Zach Chodur was hit by a pitch to start the ninth inning.
A ground out moved Chodur up a base and he then advanced to third
on a passed ball. Kellen Jarrett singled home Chodur to make it
5-4 and the freshman moved into scoring position with a wild pitch.
After a ground out left the Aggies one out away from a loss, senior
third baseman Zach Jakubowski delivered a game-tying single that
scored Jarrett and moved up to second on the throw. He didn't stay
long as sophomore rightfielder Mike Isgro followed with a single
that scored Jakubowski for a 6-5 advantage. It was Isgro's third
hit of the afternoon.
Richard Stockton began the bottom of the ninth with a walk by Chris
Discher and he moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. However, Delaware
Valley pitcher Sean Tappan notched a strikeout and a pop out to
end the game and pick up the win. Tappan allowed one hit and one
run in two innings of work.
Jeff Lundell went 2-4 with a run and an RBI while Matt Allen and
Matt Hunt also stroked two hits apiece for Stockton, which dropped
its second consecutive game after a 3-0 start.
