Delaware Valley College 15, Penn State
Abington 6
ABINGTON (PA) - Delaware Valley College won for the eighth time
in the last nine games as the Aggies posted a 15-6, non-conference
victory at Penn State Abington.
Delaware Valley is now 16-8 overall and heading into a crucial
part of its schedule as it will play four, Freedom Conference games
over the next three days. The Aggies will first take their 2-2 conference
record to FDU-Florham for a nine-inning contest tomorrow and then
host the Devils for a twinbill on Saturday. Delaware Valley will
then host Manhattanville College on Sunday for a nine-inning, conference
game that was postponed earlier in the season.
The Aggies used the long ball for four of their runs in the contest
as both Zach Jakubowski and Kevin Weingart went deep. Jakubowski
hit a solo shot for his second home run of the season. He finished
the game 2-for-5 with three runs scored and two RBIs, giving him
35 on the season. That total puts him in a tie with two others for
ninth place on the single-season list while his 94 career RBI has
him tied for sixth in that category.
Weingart blasted a three-run shot on Thursday for his first home
run of the year. He finished the afternoon 2-for-4 with two runs
scored and three RBIs.
Kyle Bob went 3-for-6 and scored a pair of run while Brent Terlecky
went 2-for-5 with a double, three runs scored and an RBI. Zach Chodur
and Dylan Saldutti each had two hits in the victory.
Justin Lucas started and went three innings for Delaware Valley.
Zach Holm picked up the win in relief as he pitched the final six
innings and allowed just two unearned runs and four hits. He did
not walk a batter and fanned four.
