DOYLESTOWN (PA) - - Delaware Valley College notched 32 runs and 31 hits, including a school-record 13 runs in the third inning of the opener, as the host Aggies swept a pair of games from Division II Chestnut Hill College, 22-3 and 10-7.

With the wins, Delaware Valley improved to 12-7 and already surpassed its entire win total from last season with more than 20 games still remaining on the schedule. The Griffins, in their inaugural year of varsity play, fell to 5-12.

The Aggies trailed 3-0 and did not have a hit heading into the bottom of the third inning of the first game. They then erupted for 13 runs on seven hits and were also aided by three Chestnut Hill errors. In total, 18 men went to the plate and all nine in the starting lineup scored at least one run in the inning.

Delaware Valley tied the game at 3-3 without even getting its first hit as a walk, two Griffins miscues, a ground out and a double steal led to the first three runs. Kevin Weingart then gave the Aggies their first hit and the lead for good with an RBI triple. Weingart added another RBI in the inning with a ground out while Zach Jakubowski, Kellen Jarrett and Brent Terlecky also had two RBIs apiece in the stanza.

Delaware Valley continued the offensive onslaught with six runs on six hits in the fourth inning for a 19-3 advantage. Jakubowski and Weingart each knocked in their runs of the game in the stanza. The Aggies then ended the scoring with three more in the sixth, including a two-run single by Zach Chodur.

Chodur finished a perfect 4-for-4 with thee runs scored and four RBIs. Jakubowski was 3-for-3 with two runs scored and four RBIs while Weingart (1-for-4) scored three times and knocked in three. Matt Giberson also had three RBIs to his credit as he went 1-for-4 with two runs scored. Terlecky finished 2-for-2 with three runs scored and a pair of RBIs. After a shaky first inning, pitcher Mike Isgro settled down and improved to 4-0 as he went five innings and allowed three runs and eight hits while fanning five.

Chestnut Hill jumped out to another lead in the first inning, this time a 4-0 advantage in the nightcap. Three of the four runs came in as a result of two Delaware Valley errors. The Aggies came right back in the bottom of the inning and scored three times, including a two-run double by Dylan Saldutti.

Delaware Valley took a 5-4 lead in the second thanks to back-to-back RBI singles by Weingart and Jakubowski. The Griffins then tied the contest in the fourth on an RBI single by Andrew Koziol.

The Aggies took the lead for good in the bottom of the fourth on RBIs by Jakubowski, Saldutti and Jim Takacs. They then added two more in the fifth on back-to-back, run-scoring doubles by Jakubowki and Kyle Bobb for a 10-5 lead.

Chestnut Hill made things interesting in the sixth as a Delaware Valley error brought in one run and the Griffins put the tying run at the plate with one out. However, Aggie reliever Rob Galdieiri notched back-to-back strikeouts to end the threat. In the seventh, Chestnut Hill got to within three before Chris Albaugh came in and recorded a strikeout for his first collegiate save.

Dan Metague improved to 3-1 as he allowed three earned runs over five innings. Jakubowski (2-for-3, 3 RBIs) and Weingart (2-for-2, 4 runs) continued hot afternoons while Saldutti finished 1-for-5 with three RBIs.
