Arcadia University 7, Delaware Valley College 4

QUAKERTOWN (PA) - Delaware Valley College's run in the Freedom Conference Championships came to an end on Saturday as the fourth-seeded Aggies suffered a 7-4 loss to No. 3 Arcadia University at Quakertown Memorial Park.

Delaware Valley, which dropped a 5-2 decision in the tournament opener to No. 1 Manhattanville College on Friday, is now 24-17 o n the season. The Aggies will await word on May 12 as to whether or not they are selected for the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) South Region Championships.

Delaware Valley trailed 1-0 when it scored two times in the sixth to take the lead. With one out and Mike Isgro on first after a single, junior center fielder Kevin Weingart hit his fifth home run of the season, a shot down the right field line.

The Knights (17-21-1) tied the game in the bottom of the inning on an RBI ground out by Matt Pempkowski. They went ahead in the next stanza on a sacrifice fly by Nick Goetz and then took command by scoring four times in the eighth for a 7-2 advantage. The big blows in the inning were back-to-back, RBI doubles by Kevin Koldgie and Anthony Champi.

The Aggies tried to rally in the ninth as Isgro doubled down the left field line to bring home Kellen Jarrett and Weingart's ground out knocked in Zach Jakubowski to make it 7-4. However that was as close as they would come.

Weingart finished 3-for-4 with three RBIs while Isgro and Jarrett had two hits apiece. Sean Tappan went seven strong innings, allowed just two earned runs but suffered the loss.
