WILKES-BARRE (PA) -- King's College came from behind in both games as the Monarchs registered a Freedom Conference doubleheader sweep of visiting Delaware Valley College, 5-2 and 4-3.

Delaware Valley (4-10, 0-6 Freedom) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the opener with single runs in the first and third innings. In the first, Zach Jakubowski singled home Kevin Weingart, who opened the contest with a double. Jakubowski then notched another RBI in the third with a sacrifice fly that scored Steve Kinney.

It stayed 2-0 until the fourth when King's (17-3, 9-1) scored five runs on six hits and one Aggie error. Adam Depko and Jon Venarchick had the big blows in the inning with RBI triples. Caleb Calarco picked up the win to improve to 5-0.

Jakubowski finished 1-for-2 with the two RBIs for Delaware Valley. Anthony Perry was 2-for-3 while John Persicketti took the loss as he gave up five runs in four innings.

The nightcap saw King's score a run in the third, but the Aggies countered with three runs in the top of the fifth. Persicketti drew a bases-loaded walk to tie the game and Jakubowski followed with a two-out, two-run single.

However, King's took advantage of a costly Delaware Valley error and tied the game with two runs in its half of the fifth, It then came down to the bottom of the seventh and Pat McGlynn began the inning with a walk for the Monarchs. Pinch-runner Phil Moskowitz moved to second on a sacrifice bunt and then came around to score the game-winning run on an RBI single by J.R. Graver.

Jakubowski went 1-for-3 with two RBIs in the loss. Mike Isgro had a multiple-hit game with a 2-for-3 showing. Chris White started and did not allowed an earned run in five-plus innings of work. Dave Keeler took the loss in relief.
