Delaware Valley 10, Drew University 4 (Game 1)
Delaware Valley 14, Drew University 10 (Game 2 - 8 innings)

MADISON (NJ) - Delaware Valley College opened up Freedom Conference action by sweeping a doubleheader at Drew University. The Aggies took the first game, 10-4, then notched a wild 14-10, eight-inning victory in the nightcap.

Senior Zeke Boren went the full seven innings in the opener and allowed four runs on seven hits. The Aggies (2-0, 2-0) opened up a 5-0 lead with three runs in the first and two more in the third. Right fielder George Higginson had an RBI in each inning with a run-scoring ground out and a single.

Third baseman Ryan Burza was 3-for-4, including a solo home run with one out in the seventh inning. He scored three runs and knocked in one. Catcher Travis Roth added a 2-for-4 performance with a double and two runs scored.

In the nightcap, Delaware Valley trailed 4-2 when it scored four times in the top of the seventh for a two-run advantage. However, Drew (2-6-1, 0-2) tied the game and sent it to extra innings when Joe Cardinale smacked a one-out, two-run homer.

The Aggies responded in the top of the eighth by sending 12 batters to the plate and scoring eight runs on six hits. Higginson and Roth each had two-run singles in the inning. The Rangers made things interesting by scoring four times in the bottom half of the inning, but Delaware Valley held on for the victory and the doubleheader sweep.

Roth went 2-for-5 with one run scored and two RBIs from the designated hitter position. Right fielder Austin Rickrode was 4-for-4 with two RBIs while second baseman Bill Cahill added three hits, two runs scored and three RBIs. Burza continued his hot day by scoring two runs and knocking in two in a 1-for-4 showing. Joe Cione recorded the win after letting the save opportunity slip away in the seventh.
