Athlete of the Week

Brittany Stockert

Sophomore shortstop/designated player Brittany Stockert of the softball team has been selected as the DVC/Pete's Pizza Athlete of the Week for the period of April 28 to May 4.

Stockert shined in the Freedom Conference playoffs as she batted .353 with a double, three home runs and eight RBIs while leading the team to a runner-up finish and the best showing in program history.

Stockert started a weekend to remember by smashing a two-out, game-tying grand slam home run in the top of the seventh inning against defending Freedom champion King's. The game eventually went to the 14th inning where Stockert drove home the winning run with a single.

After a loss to DeSales placed the Aggies in the consolation bracket, Stockert went 3-3 with a school-record tying two home runs and three RBIs as Delaware Valley defeated King's again to reach the championship round. Delaware Valley had to beat DeSales twice to win the title and Stockert helped the Aggies take the first game, 2-1, by going 1-for-3 with a double. However, the Aggies ran out of gas after a long weekend and fell 11-0 to DeSales in the final contest of the tournament.
