The Bachelor’s Degree in Counseling Psychology

Today, the counseling psychology field:

  • Attracts people with a passion for helping others, who are interested in learning about the human mind.
  • Is  one of the most popular fields in psychology.
  • Focuses on helping people with various psychological problems ranging from everyday stress, such as academic trouble or career difficulties, to more severe disorders, such as depression and anxiety.
  • Offers careers in psychotherapy, teaching, and research.

DelVal’s undergraduate program is unique because it is a four-year program that specifically focuses on counseling. Other institutions offer general psychology degrees or counseling skills in conjunction with seminar training.

Our bachelor’s degree in counseling psychology balances education with an in-depth knowledge of this field’s professional demands.

In our four-year degree program, you’ll gain:

  • Expert preparation for positions in: Teaching, Psychotherapy, and Research.
  • Valuable work experience.
  • A strong foundation whether you want to enter the workforce right way or go on to graduate school. We have a strong placement rate for employment and a 100 percent placement rate for graduate school acceptance (as of Sept. 2012).

We also have a student-run Psychology Club, so you can meet other students with similar career goals and interests while developing leadership skills. Our psychology club brings area professionals on campus to network and share ideas. You will be able to build local contacts right at DelVal. The College has also hosted several conferences for local mental health professionals, including a Networking for Youth Conference. This event brought together area professionals working with youth to seek solutions. Our counseling psychology students played a major role in the event.
