Each year Delaware Valley College sells anywhere between 14 to 20 Standardbred yearlings. Yearlings can be sold privately but most are sold at annual Standardbred auctions.

In the fall of their senior year, students in the Yearling Management course are each assigned one or two  yearlings they are responsible for getting ready for the sale. Yearlings are groomed and handled on daily basis – they are taught ground manners, how to pick up feet, stand on crossties, and load onto a trailer.

Students are responsible for traveling with the horse(s) they are responsible for to the sale, setting up the college consignment, and showing their yearling(s) to prospective buyers. Students also work for the sales company and other consigners during the Harrisburg Standardbred Sale.
