John Martin is a Delaware Valley College alumnus and has taught for over 30 years. Prior to joining the DelVal faculty, he taught at the University of Maryland's Institute of Applied Agriculture and was a faculty member at Virginia Tech.
Dr. Martin served as chair of the former Department of Ornamental Horticulture and Environmental Design for 20 years and as director of the Henry Schmieder Arboretum for 10 years. Currently, he teaches Herbaceous Plant Materials I and II, Interior Plant Identification, Culture and Use, Interior Plantscaping, Plant Propagation, Introduction to Floral Design and Advanced Floral Design, and Ornamental Horticulture Seminar.
Over the last seven years, Dr. Martin has been developing interactive CD-ROMs and other teaching materials covering a wide variety of herbaceous, tropical, and floral plant materials. He is active in numerous college, community and industry organizations and serves as adviser to the DelVal Floral Society.
Dr. Martin has been interested in self-sufficient homesteading for many years. He has been actively pursuing this interest in sustainable living at his Bucks County home in Hilltown.
