April Laskow spent over twenty years as a veterinary technician in private, small animal veterinary hospitals where she also served as a practice manager for several years. During this time she worked with mostly companion animals, such as dogs and cats, but also with exotics and other various pocket pets such as reptiles, birds, rabbits, and rodents.
After graduating from Delaware Valley College in 2007, Laskow worked for Bristol-Meyers Squibb in Pennington, N.J., as a research scientist in the Metabolic Disease Department, focusing specifically on Type II Diabetes. She was also the robotics training coordinator for the University of Pennsylvania Health System’s Robotic Training Center in Glenolden, Pa., where she trained medical doctors in the use and applications of The Davinci Robot that is utilized in many human operating rooms around the world as well as managed the Center’s animal use, protocols, inventory and personnel, and served as the veterinary anesthesia technician.
In 2008, she joined the animal biotechnology department as a full time lecturer for Introduction to Small Animal Management. Laskow has been the primary laboratory instructor for this course. She is also a member of the College’s Professional Development Committee, DelVal's Dance Team advisor, and co-advisor for the Vaulting Team and for the Class of 2015. She is also highly involved with the Polish Exchange Program and the International Committee.
Laskow is a member of the American Association of Laboratory Animal Science, including the local Delaware Valley branch, and the National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America.
Outside of DelVal, Laskow is dedicated to raising two teenagers, a son and a daughter, and assists her husband with his car dealership and garage. The Laskow family cares for two Jack Russells, a cat, a horse, a dove, a conure, and many classic cars. She also enjoys hunting, football, and music.
