Summer camps for budding photographers, actors, and musicians
Is your kid the next Justin Bieber, Annie Leibovitz, or Julia Roberts? You never know until they give singing, photography, or acting a shot. Delaware Valley College’s upcoming summer camps will give young people in the area the chance to record their own music, create an original song, take photos at a fashion show, or act for the screen.
Area kids can harness their creative talents this summer by attending one of DelVal’s new summer camps. This July and August, the College is offering programs in Doylestown for kids ages 8 through 15 who are interested in photography, acting, and music.
Registration is now open and will run until the camps fill up.
Music and Voice Camp (Ages: 10-14)
Does your child dream of what it’s like to be behind the microphone, performing like her favorite singer? Well here's her chance! Designed by a GRAMMY-award-winning music producer and Parent's Choice Gold winner, this camp offers campers the chance to work with recording studio equipment and introduces them to the amazing world of the music industry. Campers will have a blast developing their skills in songwriting, music recording, voice-overs and audio equipment operation. Campers can work interchangeably as talent and/or crew, behind the scenes or behind the microphone. They'll learn vocal warm up routines, perform voice-overs and TV/radio announcements and have a blast singing karaoke to their favorite songs. Campers create their very own song from start to finish and record it live! Your son or daughter will have a hand in fully producing a song from start to finish and have a copy of that song to share with friends and family for years to come. Campers receive one professionally edited audio CD, which contains all of their recordings for the week.

Wickline Casting’s Film and TV Camp (Ages: 8-15)
This is Wickline Casting’s original camp that started 15 years ago. Each day is designed so children work as cast and crew teams. Campers learn basic levels of acting, directing and operating the camera. Script writing, storyboarding and improvisation will also be introduced. Kids work on projects like commercials, film scenes, music videos and public service announcements. Each day is different as campers create their very own original projects and learn the basics of the business. Upon completion of this camp, all original footage will be sent to a professional editor for creation of a DVD. Orders will be taken for purchase.

You will spend the week learning tips and techniques of basic photography at Allure West Studios, a prominent photography studio in Doylestown, while working behind-the-scenes to produce a premier runway show at the County Theater on the last day of camp. Each day will include a technical session and a logistics session, during which students will have the opportunity to plan, design and implement a Premier Runway Show. Students will walk away from the camp with a working knowledge of their digital SLRs as well as a portfolio of images they created.
Students must bring: Digital SLR camera, memory cards, charged batteries, notepad and pen for notes and a brown bag lunch. While not required, those with specialized camera lenses and laptops are encouraged to bring them.
