Biography

As chair of the education department, Kathleen Kennedy-Reilly is responsible for teaching education courses that specialize in literacy, inclusive practices, and diverse learners. She is also responsible for curriculum development, field experience opportunities, and special topic workshops for the department.

As an advisor she works with education students seeking certification in the areas of agriculture, biology, chemistry, and general science. On campus, she has served on a variety of committees including Student Leadership, Instructional Technology, and Library and Resources.

Kennedy-Reilly has 17 years experience working in Pennsylvania public schools as a classroom teacher, specialist, consultant, and literacy intervention coach. She currently maintains her connection with public education through her work with the Upper Dublin School District and Souderton Area School District as a contracted literacy consultant.

She is currently is a Doctor of Education candidate in educational leadership at Arcadia University in Glenside, Pa. She has a M.S. in reading with reading specialist certification. In addition, Kathleen is also certified as an English as a Second Language Program Specialist, and in the areas of elementary and special education. Her research interests include teacher preparation and the impact of inclusive practices at both the elementary/secondary level and the post-secondary settings.

Kennedy-Reilly enjoys her work with her students at Delaware Valley College and is committed to helping them become enthusiastic, reflective, and successful teachers. Outside of her professional role, Kathleen Kennedy-Reilly is married to Brian Reilly, a public school teacher. She is also the mother of four children: Maddie, Christian, Sean, and Finn. Together they lead a very active life and enjoy the time they spend together.
