Community Members

You are part of our Delaware Valley University family!

At Delaware Valley University, we’re fortunate to be part of a great community in Bucks County, but it isn’t enough to just be a part of this community. We want to play an active role in constantly making our neighborhoods better.

This is just a small sample of the great work members of the DelVal community are doing to improve their communities. Our students, faculty, staff and alumni are helping people live healthier lives by taking on issues from hunger to making sure people in long-term care get visitors. From our clubs and organizations to our sports teams, the belief in giving back runs deep at DelVal.

For The Community

A-Day, which stands for Activities Day, is a family-friendly event organized and run by the students of Delaware Valley University to benefit campus activities and clubs. This three-day event brings the campus and the surrounding community together for educational exhibits, competitions, entertainment, fun, and great food such as thick, homemade milkshakes and delicious funnel cakes.

Animal Lifeline Club is dedicated to helping shelter animals. We do so through a variety of ways. General meetings are spent reviewing club activity, planning for trips, and activities such as blanket and toy making.

We also volunteer time to local shelters, such as Last Chance Rescue. We partner with Rescue Rebuild to go on about two cross-country trips a year - one over winter break, one over summer break. On these trips we help to restore in-need animal shelters, dog parks, or other organizations that advocate for shelter animal welfare. Throughout the semester we participate in fundraising to cover the costs of the trip, so club members don't have to pay for the experiences.

Just west of Doylestown, the Arboretum encompasses 40 acres of our main campus. The Arboretum complements the mission of the University providing a living collection of plants that reflects our faculty’s teaching requirements and serves as a “green resource” for the surrounding community.

The University’s Arts on Campus initiative is working to enhance the experience for both students and visitors to Delaware Valley University’s campus by providing a variety of art and music on campus.

The Green Dot strategy teaches us that, “No one has to do everything, but everyone can do something.” Our goal is to foster a campus community where power-based violence is not and will not be welcomed or tolerated, and where all are welcome and encouraged to thrive.

To honor the legacy and works of our founder, Delaware Valley University introduces the Krauskopf Medal, to be awarded to honor the outstanding contributions of individuals or organizations that embody the spirit of Rabbi Krauskopf’s life’s work and passions. Like our founder, the recipient of the Krauskopf Medal will have positively impacted society including one or more of the following areas: agriculture and food systems, human and civil rights, social justice, child labor, conservation and sustainability, poverty, educational and employment equity, and quality of life issues.

One Health is a multi-disciplinary approach that works locally, regionally, nationally, and globally to attain optimal well being for people and society, the environment and plants, and animals. Together, the three major components make up the One Health triad, and the well being of each is inextricably linked to the others in the triad.

Main St., a local breast cancer non-profit, has spread from its Doylestown roots to several other Bucks County towns, including Carversville, Lahaska, New Hope, Newtown, Warrington, and Perkasie. Main St. aims to inspire and empower people and businesses to support the needs of our local breast cancer patients in treatment, recovery and beyond.

Delaware Valley University's Small Business & Entrepreneurship Center (SBEC), the Central Bucks Chamber of Commerce (CBCC), and Startup Bucks hosts Spark Bowl, a “shark-tank” - like competition. The event encourages entrepreneurs, innovative businesses and nonprofit organizations to address social, consumer and business-oriented challenges in and around Bucks County, with innovative problem-solving ideas to support the economic growth and prosperity of our communities.
